Since the day Danielle first reached out to me, a friendship has been forming. She’s a girl out for my own heart, with her love for their upcoming marriage, family, and all thing Eastern Shore. It was only appropriate that we chose the perfect spot for their Oxford Engagement Portraits! Danielle & Chris’s love story has a “beauty from ashes” feel to it and it’s captivated my heart ever since. Read on below-
A little write up about their Engagement photos! :
Megan Bennett Photography and Rachel Kelly Events teamed up to create a romantic Oxford engagement session for their November 2020 couple, Danielle and Chris. Danielle and Chris got engaged in September of 2019 and in Danielle’s words: “Chris proposed on September 16th this past year, the 13th anniversary of the day he stepped on an IED in Iraq and hurt both his legs. In his words, a day that has always represented the worst day of his life, because he wanted to turn it into a day that represented the best day of his life. I walked in from work to Chris on his robot knee (not an easy position for a double amputee to assume!). I said yes and he had dinner reservations made and it was just the best day ever.”
This sweet couple, who is getting married at the Tidewater Inn this Fall, wanted to celebrate their engagement with the ultimate eastern shore session. Danielle and Chris wanted a refined and sophisticated engagement session highlighting all the beauty of downtown Oxford. Every little street in Oxford comes alive in June with full blooming magnolia trees, lush hydrangea bushes lining historic homes, and sailboats around every corner. Danielle and Chris wore complementing white and navy outfits and Danielle styled her dress with an organic garden-style bouquet by Chesapeake Blooms.
Before the session started, we were outrunning a summer storm and torrential downpour, but as soon as Danielle and Chris arrived, the rain stopped just in time! We started off by exploring the marina near the Scottish Highland Creamery and taking gorgeous portraits with sailboats as the perfect backdrop. We made our way down to the Oxford Library and Museum where the gardens were in their summertime best. Danielle and Chris were up for taking a stroll through the neighborhood off of South Morris Street where there are tons of hidden spots perfect for cozying up near garden benches and picket fences. We ended the session popping bubbly seaside with nautical details of Danielle’s gorgeous oval ring and toasting to their November nuptials!
