I could go on and on and on you guys. On and on about how much I love Taylor, Michael, and their whole darn family! Have you ever been somewhere and think, “these are my people!” Well that was me through their entire wedding planning process. At one point during their brunch wedding, I could’ve swore I was at a family reunion! Everything about Michael & Taylor’s love for each other, including their adorable love story, will make your own heart flutter. Because my first interactions with them wasn’t actually meeting them (more of that later!), I had Taylor & Michael fill out a questionnaire to give me more insight about them as a couple. And this is where I fell in love with them and their intimate brunch wedding!
Taylor’s mom and Michael’s mom both worked at Frederick High School and became good friends (you can see them sitting close/telling a speech at the reception). They ‘accidentally’ introduced Taylor & Michael at the Cheesecake Factory in Columbia, and the two instantly connected. Taylor was young, so they took their time, chatted for years, and in 2017 Michael proposed in front of a waterfall in Iceland! Dreamy!
It’s fitting that one day I received an email from a mom wanting to meet to discuss me photographing her daughters wedding. If you’re in the wedding industry, you know as well as I that MOB’s can be notoriously difficult and I was skeptical. Let me tell you, NOT Mrs Maggie Kapustin! I was so so wrong. She is a salt of the earth kind of lady and her presence fills a room with warmth. I felt it the moment we met at Starbucks and I was hook, line, and sinker for this wedding! Maggie went on about how her daughter had been following me for years and had to have me as her photographer (swoooon!). The way she talked about Taylor & Michael, I just knew I had to capture this. Needless to say, we chatted for a good bit about their intimate brunch wedding plans and I was emailing Taylor the next day!
Even before COVID, they had planned on having a small, sweet, brunch-style wedding. Even though they had to change the venue, I think it really worked out! They tied the knot in front of Taylor’s mom historic farmhouse and it felt like something out of a lifetime movie! Watershed Entertainment played lived music while the morning light dipped through the trees and the delicious smell of brunch lingered in the background. It was a simple morning and just what Taylor & Michael wanted!
